Book Review: Savage Bay
By: Christopher Forrest
Es Vedra is an island isolated in the Mediterranean, south of Spain. Not only does the island have a mysterious history, it is a fortress allowing a rare few access to those secrets. What is the ancient secret, forbidden knowledge, and staggering discovery that will forever change the course of human civilization?
Forrest tells the story from two different points of view. One from Michael Hawke known to his comrades as Hawkeye, commander of an elite, special forces team called Titan Six.
The other from Catherine Caine who runs an international business empire. And she runs it largely from a ship named Alamiranta.
Both Hawkeye and Caine are hiding their own secrets – secrets that could change the how everyone in the world lives or dies tomorrow. This is a book of secrets!
Caine is a dominating leader – some would call her ruthless. Yet she maintains a sentimental spot for her “family” which includes blood relatives as well as her “Team” of dedicated employee/followers. Why is her company Titan Global run from a floating fortress called Alamiranta? What secrets or doings does she need to protect from individual country laws? Why would she need that much protection and what does her company do that is so secretive?
The DNA helix is the very essence of the human race. Yet, that very DNA holds the secrets for humanity’s future. Caine and her dedicated and loyal scientists have been working to unravel the clues to DNA’s secret vault. If Caine’s DNA discoveries get into the wrong hands, the destiny of mankind could be in jeopardy.
When Hawkeye is briefed on his next mission, he learns that Caine’s daughter is in danger requiring immediate action from Titan Six to prevent her potential death or worse – what could be worse? He learns of Savage Bay, it’s secrets and potential danger if those secrets fall into the wrong hands. His mission is complex – rescue Caine’s daughter, secure the island, and protect those secrets. What Hawkeye doesn’t know is the island has already been compromised. No one knows who managed to infiltrate the island’s sophisticated protection system, if they’ve found her secrets, and if those secrets are already in the wrong hands.
Forrest walked me through a maze of questions as I read Savage Bay. He is an expert at giving just enough information that I had no choice but to continue reading. I was hooked from the prologue – there was no going back for Titan Six or me.
