Book Review – Scorned and Abandoned
Scorned and Abandoned
By John Charles
Scorned and Abandoned is the perfect title of John’s first book in the Aaron Jaycynth Novel series.
Originally John based the book on the cautionary quote Beware What You Wish For as you might get it. As you read further into the book, the quote starts to gel, as does the negative aspect of the wish.
Aaron, a shy young man, is positioned in a new job as IT specialist for Andrews Security. Andrews protects some of the world’s most prestigious CEOs, industry leaders, politicians, and dignitaries.
One such industry leader is Robert Tameron whose inventions and entrepreneurship made him a millionaire at 25. His company grew through the years to become one of the worlds renowned firms specializing in saving depleted oil and gas wells. His extremely profitable company was purchased by British Petroleum, thus requiring Robert and his wife Gabriel (Gabi) to relocate to London. Their youngest, Ethan , stayed behind in Colorado to finish high school.
Now in London for a month, Ethan is having the time of his life. He is learning the customs of his new country, acclimating himself to the continuous surveillance of his personal body guard from Andrews Security, and the new way the Brits play soccer. Well the Brits call it football.
Ethan graduated at the top of his high school class, was a star soccer player, had the solid body of a gymnast, and looked forward to playing soccer / football at university. Thus the comprehensive enrichment camp his father enrolled him in. “Two weeks of soccer with the world’s best players,” what more could a young man want.
En route to the camp, he is kidnapped. Ethan’s bodyguard is severely beaten and left for dead. The only clue to the whereabouts of Ethan and his kidnapper comes in the form of an email with a video link.
There, in the video, is Ethan – naked, held spread eagle by chains, and the voice of his deranged kidnapper telling Robert to “Look at your son now. Soon you will see him become a sex slave and sold at auction to the highest bidder. You will never see him again.”
Aaron finds himself tasked with finding Ethan’s kidnapper. His only lead is the email received by Robert. Desperate for help, he is teamed with Declan Kinersley a top operative from MI5.
They need answers. Why was Ethan’s kidnapper so determined to sell him as a sex slave? Was he working alone or was this part of a bigger kidnapping ring, one that had eluded MI5 for years?
The shy young Aaron, finds himself pulled into the underbelly of the leather, BDSM playground as he tries to find Ethan before the ticking clock runs down.
