This is the first of a series of articles about how I perceive The Law of Attraction. You read that right, these articles are how I perceive the law, not how anyone else teaches it, nor how I was originally taught. Thus the perfect place to start is Feel, Don’t Think!
For years, I’ve studied the concept of The Law of Attraction. I’ve read books, listened to hundreds of audios, watched endless videos, attended seminars, and even purchased a hypnosis program; all geared to help the reader/viewer get a better understanding of The Law of Attraction. Recently, however, I discovered the one underlying premiss that was very poorly explained in every program, audio, video, and book I consumed.
I was taught, The Law of Attraction says The Universe Delivers More of What we Think About Most However, the Law of Attraction is not based on words or thoughts, it is totally based on Emotion. I’ll say it again – The Law of Attraction is totally based on Emotion.
What happens when you want or desire something? You talk about it and how having it will make you happy, change your life, solve problems, the litany is endless. But words, though powerful in the physical world, are meaningless in the world of the Universe. Why? The Universe doesn’t hear words – it only feels Emotions!
Emotions are powerful. Feelings are emotions. They have more power than words. While words might trigger emotions, it’s not the words that count. So, you’ve established a desire and want to have whatever that desire is. What do we all do when that happens? We talk about the desire, why we want it, how it will make us happy, how it will be fantastic once we have it, etc. And as we talk about that desire, we build the emotion of Wanting. Wanting is a very powerful emotion. It sends a signal that you Want something and that the something you Want has not been delivered.
Okay, you say – That’s exactly correct. “I want (fill in the blank)” True, but the universe doesn’t hear words, it Feels Emotions. You’ve established an emotion of wanting thus the universe delivers more of what it perceives you want. That’s not fair, you say. How am I supposed to feel when I really want the (blank)? I developed what I called the Emotion Scale. When feelings are heavily weighted on the Wanting side, the Emotion Scale is tilted on that side making it near impossible for the Universe to deliver anything but Wanting.
That was the most difficult part of the learning process for me, too. I was talking about the things I wanted, dreaming about them, desiring them. Yet they didn’t materialize in my physical world. The Universe kept giving more to want, never manifesting the What I Wanted. It wasn’t until I realized that I needed to stop Wanting, that things started to happen.
The Emotion Scale of Having is so powerful that the Universe has no choice but to send more Having your way.
Slowly I discovered the opposite to Wanting is Having. So I started to think about how I would feel once I Had the item/desire. It was a new concept to me. The feeling of Having is 180 degrees from the feeling of Wanting. I didn’t always succeed. I would start thinking about how I would feel once I had the item of my desires and would fall back into the wanting mode again. So I stopped thinking about the desire completely and went about my normal day. I knew that happiness brings more happiness (Emotion brings more of the same emotion.) so I decided to simply be happy. Amazing things started to happen. I had ideas about new books, plots that were troublesome, got resolved. Positive people appeared in my life, solutions became obviously apparent. Things started to happen!
Now, rather than concentrating on the Wanting, I allow myself to feel the emotion of Having. Try it!
