Review: The Big Leap was recommended to me and once I started reading it, I became hooked, hooked on the manner in which Hendricks builds his theories, the manner in which he writes, the manner in which he uses story telling as his teaching method.
While there are so many self help books on the market, none has approached developing a satisfying and fulfilling life the way Gay Hendricks has. In his story telling approach, he outlines, then develops methods for understanding what has held us back and how to move forward past those roadblocks. He calls these roadblocks Upper Limit Problems. ULPs are self sabotage, subconscious impediments that prevent us from being happy with success, love, abundance, etc. When the subconscious sees us living our dreams, or even approaching that level, it sets up conflicts that bring us back down to that “safe” spot it likes.
By learning how to recognize those ULPs, acknowledge, and move past them, we are able to live the life we want. Hendricks uses client stories to show how they got past their ULPs to achieve what they wanted. He further teaches how we might learn to do the same. His philosophy is useful in a wide variety of situations from relationships, to social situations, to job and career, and more.
In one section of The Big Leap, Hendricks talks about time in a way that I’ve not heard before. It’s his theory that we control time, that time is within us, not outside us. His theory is that when we learn how to control time, not what we do within an amount of time, but control time itself, we have more than enough of it to live every aspect of the lives we desire without limitation.
The concepts Hendricks puts forth in The Big Leap are more than just interesting theories. When put into practice, they guide the reader into a new life reality, one that most of use wish for, but have no idea how to attain. If that is what you want, then get over to Amazon and pick up The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. If you’re a Prime member, you can get the Kindle version for free.
